JQS Orchestra Program
This before-school program offers group lessons in general music, singing, and string instruments to students in 1st-4th grade.  The focus of the JQS Orchestra Program is the development of musical excellence alongside valuable community and life skills, such as teamwork and perseverance.  To learn more, please visit our website:

Community Music Center of Boston
For the 2012-2013 school year, CMCB will offer a beginning band program to 3rd and 4th grade students, and an intermediate band program to 5th grade students.  Children can choose from the following instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, or trombone.  Additionally, CMCB offers dance classes to students during the school day (as an in-school specialty), once per week to various grade levels.  To learn more, visit the CMCB website:

Boston University Making Music Program
The Boston University Making Music Program brings music education to Boston Public Schools.  Student volunteers offer private instrumental and vocal lessons to 5th grade students, culminating in a recital held at Boston University in May.  To learn more, visit the Making Music website: 

Boston City Singers Choir Program
Children in this program meet once-per-week after school to learn singing techniques and a variety of choral repertoire.  This program is offered free to students in 3rd-5th grade.  To learn more, visit the BCS website:

Rock Band Program
Students learn about the history of rock, rhythm, and blues, as well as skills on the following instruments: drum kit, guitar, electric bass, and keyboard.  Because space is limited, students must be nominated by a classroom or specialty teacher.  

New England Conservatory: Touring Children's Opera
Opera will soon grace the stage of the JQS auditorium!  The NEC Touring Children's Opera presents a new operatic production just for kids every fall.  The performance includes a brief introduction, 40-minute production, and closing Q&A session.
